Organic Vs Inorganic

which is better?

Organic pigments are not like organic food... if a pigment is organic it does not mean it was grown without the use of pesticides.  So what exactly does it mean?

when it comes to pigments...

  • ORGANIC PIGMENTS: composed of a greater percentage of carbon & have a tendency to fade to blue & green while many will never fade at all. These are the MOST STUBBORN to remove, do NOT fade nicely because the smaller molecules fade first leaving behind the larger carbon molecules leaving those blue, blue-green brows behind, sometimes forever.

  • INORGANIC PIGMENTS: composed of more iron oxides, this molecule is smaller than carbon so it leaves the body easier, thus fades as it is meant to over time.  Because inorganic pigments are more iron based they tend to fade to reds more and often are responsible for the salmon brows you may have seen.  Due to the tendency for inorganic pigments to fade over time more easily these are often the pigments given to students and new artists.

what does Melissa use?

Melissa doesn't use either.  She only uses high quality pigments that have been "modified" - this means they have been molecularly altered in a lab to incorporate the best qualities of both  organic and inorganic pigments.

With Melissa's pigments you can expect fading to occur gradually over time.  Typically the way you will experience fading is that the color gradually becoming a fainter version of it's original color.

Because everyone's body chemistry and lifestyle are different, some slight color shift can still occur even with the use of modified high quality pigments.  As with any tattoo, cosmetic or otherwise, no placement of color under human skin can ever come with a guarantee, as all skin is different in composition and color.

Factors that are highly successful in reducing the possibility of color shift:

  • using high quality modified pigments

  • expert technique to place pigment in the correct area of the dermis

  • aftercare

  • lifestyler

  • individual biochemistry
